Queen’s Park- Head west along Wellesley, and a quick ten-minute walk will take you to the Ontario Legislature, a sprawling historic structure set in serene parkland. Opened in 1860 in honour of Queen Victoria, Queen’s Park is surrounded by ministry buildings and the gracious structures of University of Toronto, and is just steps away from the Royal Ontario Museum and the Gardiner Museum at Bloor and Avenue Road. The park is a perfect workday respite for students, government workers and university employees – one a nice day, you’ll find it busy with people enjoying their lunch break or taking a quick walk between meetings.

College Park- This quiet mall and high-rise residence was home to Eaton’s elegant art deco flagship store. The original showpiece has been broken up to house smaller shops and services, but the beautiful deco details remain. From the lovely brass revolving doors to the marble finishes throughout, it’s a gracious space steeped in history. And upstairs you’ll find one of Toronto’s most celebrated event spaces, the Carlu. Recently restored to its original Art Moderne splendour, the venue features a hand-painted mural by Natacha Carlu and a stunning Lalique fountain.

Hospital Row- At the northernmost part of University Avenue where it meets College is an area Torontonians like to call “Hospital Row” for its high concentration of medical facilities. The enclave includes Toronto General Hospital, Mount Sinai, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre and Sick Kids. It’s also home to Canada’s largest research hub and one of the ten largest biomedical clusters in the world. For doctors, health care workers, researchers, technicians and biomedical entrepreneurs, Totem offers incredible proximity to the best facilities Canada has to offer.

Ryerson University- Head south along Yonge or Church, and you’ll find another set of hallowed educational halls; the ever-expanding Ryerson campus is tucked in around the Eaton Centre. Stop by on a sunny summer day – Gould Street between Yonge and Church is permanently closed to traffic, and is the perfect place to sit down at a patio table and enjoy lunch of a coffee al fresco.
